What does CCCS do?
At CCCS a certified Consumer Credit Counselor will help you develop a realistic monthly spending plan, including your living expenses such as housing, food,
and utilities. Sometimes that's all our clients need to get their finances in order. Your income will be used to determine how much is available to pay to your creditors. If you are having a problem with your rent or mortgage, our housing counselors can explain your options. If your debts are so overwhelming that you need continuing help, we may suggest the Debt Management Plan (DMP).
How does the DMP work?
The Debt Management Plan allows clients to pay off creditors in the most efficient, realistic and affordable manner possible.
The DMP is created to fit your individual needs. CCCS and your counselor negotiate with all of your creditors, both local and national, to reduce monthly payments, defer past due amounts, and waive or lower interest fees. You give us the monthly amount agreed upon to pay your bills and payments are sent out to your creditors once a month. A successful DMP gets
you back on track and gets your debts paid quickly as possible.
What does a DMP cost?
All counseling is free of charge. If you decide to establish a DMP, there is a one-time $40 education fee and a monthly fee
not to exceed $35.00 a month which can be waived in hardship cases.
